On the form that follows, you can apply for the following types of permits for residential locations. Depending on the type of permit and the types of answers you provide, you may want to have the following documents available to upload with your application. 

Please note, if you are the homeowner and you are performing your own work, you will be prompted to acknowledge an Owner's Affidavit.

Once the applicant submits the permit request, Village of Schaumburg Permit Staff will review the application and attachments.  After your plan is reviewed you will receive an email and a link to pay for your permit on our convenient online WebPay page. Our goal for this process is 10 business days, but may take longer during high peak seasons.  If any documents are missing, we will ask for them to be provided before we ask for your payment. 

Once the permit is paid for, we will send you a permit card to display in your window until your inspections are approved.

OWNER AFFIDAVIT

When a permit application lists the property owner as performing the work, the expectation is that the actual labors are being performed by the property owner.

The Village of Schaumburg encourages owners to invest in their property and the codes adopted by the village to allow for property owners to perform work on their own homes.

To protect property owners and property values throughout the village, all contractors are required to be licensed either with the village or the State of Illinois.

I have read this form and understand that the village inspectors may stop or delay a project if any contractor is found performing work under this permit without a proper license.

Please note that residences which are rental properties are required to use licensed contractors for any and all work performed on such properties for the life safety of the tenants.

Plumbing work may be performed by the owner listed above provided her or she expects to exclusively occupy the premises listed above for a period of not less than 6 months after the completion of the project.

By signing and submitting this document you are agreeing to this Owner Affidavit.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATIONIf you stated that any of the work is going to be performed by the owner please mark that in the corresponding contractor type.
